MIDDLE EAST ON EDGE: US–Israel Air Campaign Against Iran Set to Continue Indefinitely Amid Escalating War

Tensions across the Middle East have surged further after Israeli officials confirmed that the ongoing joint military campaign with the United States against Iran will continue without a defined timeline, raising fears of a prolonged and more devastating regional war.

According to reports, Israel’s Defence Minister stated that the operation would persist “as long as necessary” until all military objectives are achieved, signaling a firm commitment by both nations to sustain pressure on Iran despite escalating retaliation.

The military offensive, which began in late February, has already inflicted significant damage on Iranian military infrastructure, including missile systems and strategic installations. However, the strikes have also triggered a wider conflict, drawing in multiple countries and militant groups across the region.

In response, Iran and its allied forces have launched waves of missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. bases, Israeli positions, and key infrastructure in Gulf countries. These retaliatory actions have intensified instability across the region and raised concerns about the conflict spiraling beyond control.

The war has also expanded into neighboring territories, with Lebanon becoming a major flashpoint. Israeli airstrikes in the country have caused hundreds of deaths and mass displacement, as Hezbollah—backed by Iran—engages Israeli forces in ongoing hostilities.

Meanwhile, maritime security in the Gulf has deteriorated sharply. Several commercial vessels have been struck by projectiles in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil route, further heightening economic risks and disrupting international shipping.

Experts warn that the continued military escalation could deepen humanitarian crises across affected regions while destabilizing global energy markets. The involvement of multiple actors including state forces and armed groups has made the conflict increasingly complex and difficult to contain.

Despite international calls for de-escalation, there are no clear signs of an immediate ceasefire, as both sides continue to pursue strategic and military objectives. Analysts caution that without urgent diplomatic intervention, the ongoing war could reshape geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East for years to come.

As the conflict intensifies, global attention remains fixed on the region, with growing fears that the situation could evolve into one of the most far-reaching and destructive wars in recent history.
