A Kaduna State-based trader, Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Comrade Danhabu, who was arrested over a Facebook post criticising Governor Uba Sani’s alleged failure to enforce President Bola Tinubu’s directive on withdrawing police personnel from VIP protection duties, has been released, sources told Dalena Reporters.

Danhabu, a seller of phone accessories, was detained after challenging why top government officials in Kaduna State continued to receive police protection despite the President’s order. He was reportedly arrested in the first week of December at the market where he works, taken to the Kaduna State Police Headquarters, and interrogated by the Commissioner of Police, who ordered his detention after receiving a phone call during questioning. Danhabu was later taken to a Magistrate Court instead of a High Court and was remanded in prison until January 13, 2026, according to a family source.

His arrest sparked concern among relatives, particularly as he is married with two children and his elderly mother is in poor health. In his Facebook post, Danhabu criticised the ongoing use of police escorts by the governor’s officials, calling it illegal and contradicting the President’s directive.

The post highlighted that commissioners, the Speaker, the Chief of Staff, and other dignitaries continued to enjoy police protection despite the suspension of such security arrangements, raising questions about the enforcement of the presidential order at the state level.
