A 67-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder following a fatal daytime shooting at a park in North York, Toronto, police have confirmed.

Authorities said officers responded to reports of gunfire at Wenderly Park, located near Marlee and Glengrove avenues, shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, they found a 47-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite emergency efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not disclosed whether the suspect and victim were known to each other, and the circumstances leading to the shooting remain under investigation.

The incident occurred just a short distance from a community prayer walk involving Toronto police leadership, local officials, and residents an event focused on addressing violence and strengthening community safety efforts.
