Former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar has declared his intention to escalate concerns about Nigeria’s worsening situation to the United States, warning that the country is facing what he described as a “full-blown internal crisis.”

According to the report, Atiku raised alarm over the state of insecurity, governance challenges, and economic hardship in Nigeria, arguing that the situation has deteriorated beyond what can be ignored or downplayed.

The former presidential candidate reportedly emphasized that the crisis has reached a critical stage, requiring urgent attention not only domestically but also from the international community. His remarks suggest growing concern among opposition figures about the trajectory of the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The move to take Nigeria’s case to the United States is seen as part of broader efforts by political actors to draw global attention to internal challenges, including insecurity, alleged governance failures, and declining public confidence in state institutions.

Reports also indicate that discussions around possible international engagement including advocacy and policy pressure may form part of the strategy being considered by Atiku and his allies.

The development comes amid increasing political tension within Nigeria, with opposition leaders raising concerns over security, economic conditions, and democratic stability. Analysts say such statements reflect mounting frustration within political circles and could influence both domestic discourse and international perception of Nigeria’s situation.

As of now, there has been no official response from the Nigerian government regarding Atiku’s latest remarks. However, the issue is expected to further intensify political debate as the country moves closer to another election cycle.
