Dear Honorable Leaders of the State of Israel,
I write with profound respect and urgency to draw your attention to the worsening situation faced by Christian communities and Jewish minority communities in Nigeria, primarily composed of the Igbo people, particularly in the Middle Belt, Northern and South-East regions, where persistent attacks, displacement, and loss of lives have continued largely unchecked.
Across many parts of Nigeria, Christians have been subjected to repeated violence attributed to Islamic extremist and militant groups. These attacks have resulted in the destruction of churches, villages, and livelihoods, creating a profound humanitarian and religious crisis. Such violence raises serious concerns about freedom of worship, the safety of minority groups, and the fundamental right of communities to live without fear.
In addition to the persecution of Christians, Jewish communities in Southern Nigeria have increasingly faced hostility, intimidation, and violations of their right to practise Judaism freely and peacefully. Reports of harassment, arrests, and restrictions on Jewish worship have heightened fears among these communities, further underscoring the broader challenge of religious intolerance within the Nigerian state.
In response to these threats, many within the Biafra nation movement advocate for the establishment of a Jewish State of Biafra a homeland rooted in Judeo-Christian values, religious freedom, and peaceful coexistence. Advocates assert that the creation of such a state would provide a secure environment where Christians, Jews, and other religious minorities can practise their faiths without persecution, thereby contributing to long-term stability, justice, and respect for human rights in the region.
The historical experience of the Jewish people with persecution, resilience, and nation-building gives the State of Israel unique moral authority and understanding of these challenges. Many in Biafra look to Israel not only as a spiritual and cultural reference point but also as a global advocate for religious freedom, self-determination, and human dignity.
We respectfully appeal for Israel’s attention, diplomatic engagement, and moral support in drawing international focus to the persecution of Christians and Jewish communities in Nigeria, and to the broader conversation around self-determination and peaceful solutions that guarantee freedom of religion. Proponents believe that a future Jewish State of Biafra could serve as a stabilizing partner in the region, open to cooperation with Israel and its allies, including the United States, in areas of security, humanitarian support, and shared democratic values.
This appeal is made in the spirit of shared history, justice, and the protection of human dignity. International solidarity, especially from nations with strong moral influence, can play a meaningful role in advancing peace, safeguarding religious freedom, and preventing further loss of innocent lives.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours faithfully,
Iwuh
