Boko Haram Fighters Attack Chibok Community in Borno, Burn Church, Injure Residents

Chibok, Borno State — November 11, 2025 | Dalena Reporters

Militants suspected to belong to Boko Haram launched a late-night attack on Pemi village in the Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, setting fire to a church building and injuring at least two residents before being repelled by troops from Operation Hadin Kai.

According to residents, the assault began around 10:30 p.m. when the gunmen stormed the settlement, opening fire and targeting a church. A source, Zariyi Yusuf, posted that although no lives were reported lost, the destruction of the church and the terror inflicted were real.

Authorities say the injured men, identified as Mallam Bukar (30) and Yama Sumai (40), sustained gun-shot wounds to the leg and hand respectively and were evacuated to the General Hospital in Yola, Adamawa State, where they are said to be responding well to treatment.

A counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, noted that troops collaborating with local Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and Hunters Group quickly mobilised and engaged the attackers, forcing them to withdraw.

Pemi village lies in the same local government area where the abduction of 276 schoolgirls in 2014 made global headlines. The recurrence of such attacks highlights the continuing fragility of security in the region and the persistent threat posed by Boko Haram and its affiliates. Analysts warn that even isolated strikes like this can undermine community resilience, complicate recovery efforts, and intensify displacement.

Local authorities have not yet released a full official statement on the incident. Security watchers are calling for enhanced monitoring, improved community protection mechanisms, and clearer accountability for preventive measures in Chibok and surrounding areas.
