Katsina Residents Block Major Highway in Protest Over Deadly Terrorists Attacks

Kurfi–Katsina, Katsina State — November 11, 2025 | Dalena Reporters

Frustration boiled over in Katsina State today as residents from several frontline communities in the Kurfi Local Government Area blocked the Dutsin-Ma–Katsina highway to protest an escalating wave of bandit attacks that they say has gone unchecked.

The demonstrators lit tyres and burned stacks of corn stalks across the carriageway, bringing traffic to a standstill and demanding swift government action to restore their safety.

Protesters said neighbours have been abducted, homes razed, and farms abandoned as gunmen roam freely in villages near the forest frontier. One villager told Dalena Reporters that “we are no longer safe in our homes, we no longer farm, and still the bandits laugh at us while security seems absent.” Local security authorities were on the scene and eventually cleared the road, but no official statement has yet been issued.

The protest comes amid a broader sense of despair in the state’s so-called “front-line” areas, where communities increasingly feel the government and security forces have failed to protect them from repeated attacks.
