A family in Kaduna State has raised alarm over the alleged abduction of their 17-year-old daughter, claiming she was forcibly converted to Islam after going missing under unclear circumstances.
According to the report, the teenager, identified as a student of St. Bartholomew’s Secondary School in Wusasa, Zaria, was declared missing on March 9, 2026, after she reportedly left home for school but did not return.
Her family alleges that weeks after her disappearance, they discovered she had been taken to another location where she was converted to a different religion without their consent. They also claimed that she was given a new identity and placed under the control of individuals unknown to them.
The case has sparked concern among community members and rights observers, with the family calling on security agencies to urgently intervene, locate the girl, and ensure her safe return. They insist that the alleged actions violate her rights as a minor and raise broader concerns about child protection and religious freedom.
Local advocacy groups have also expressed worry over recurring reports of abductions and forced conversions involving minors in parts of northern Nigeria, urging authorities to investigate thoroughly and bring perpetrators to justice.
As of the time of reporting, there has been no official statement from law enforcement authorities confirming the details of the incident or announcing any arrests. The situation remains under public scrutiny as calls for accountability and protection of vulnerable individuals continue to grow.
