Iran has confirmed that it has received a response from the United States regarding its latest proposal for peace talks, signaling a possible diplomatic opening despite continued tensions between the two countries.

According to Iranian officials, the response was conveyed through intermediaries following Tehran’s submission of a 14-point proposal aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict within a 30-day framework. The proposal reportedly prioritizes ending the war and addressing maritime tensions, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, before tackling more complex issues such as Iran’s nuclear program.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry indicated that, at present, there are no active nuclear negotiations, suggesting that Tehran is seeking to separate immediate conflict resolution from longer-term nuclear discussions.

The development comes a day after US President Donald Trump expressed skepticism about the proposal, stating that he was reviewing the plan but doubted it would be acceptable. He argued that Iran had “not paid a big enough price” for its actions over the years, signaling potential resistance from Washington to the terms presented.

Despite a temporary pause in hostilities, efforts to resume formal negotiations have faced setbacks. The United States and Israel halted their bombing campaign against Iran weeks earlier, and while an initial round of talks took place, no further meetings have been successfully arranged.

Iranian officials have emphasized that their latest proposal reflects a shift in strategy, focusing first on de-escalation and reopening vital shipping routes before addressing broader geopolitical issues. Analysts say this approach could be aimed at building trust and creating conditions for more comprehensive negotiations later.

However, uncertainty remains over whether both sides can bridge their differences, particularly given Washington’s cautious stance and ongoing concerns about Iran’s regional activities.

The situation continues to evolve as global attention remains fixed on the potential for either renewed conflict or a breakthrough in diplomacy in one of the world’s most volatile regions.
