Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has held high-level talks with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Jeddah, focusing on diplomatic efforts to ease tensions between the United States and Iran and promote stability across the Middle East.

The meeting, which took place during Sharif’s official visit to Saudi Arabia, highlighted Pakistan’s growing role as a mediator in ongoing efforts to revive dialogue between Washington and Tehran. Both leaders reviewed recent developments surrounding U.S.-Iran talks hosted in Islamabad and emphasized the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement.

According to officials, the discussions also covered broader regional security concerns, particularly in light of the ongoing conflict triggered by U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran earlier this year. The situation has significantly heightened tensions across the region, with fears of further escalation impacting global energy markets and international stability.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman commended Prime Minister Sharif’s diplomatic initiatives and efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s economic position, reaffirming the close strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The two countries have long maintained strong ties, particularly in areas of economic cooperation, defense, and regional diplomacy.

Sharif’s visit to Saudi Arabia marks the first leg of a broader diplomatic tour that includes stops in Qatar and Türkiye, aimed at building international momentum ahead of a potential second round of U.S.-Iran negotiations. He is also expected to participate in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum and hold bilateral meetings with other global leaders.

Officials noted that recent talks between the United States and Iran, described as the first direct engagement in decades, ended without a breakthrough, although both sides have signaled openness to continuing negotiations. A fragile ceasefire remains in place as diplomatic efforts intensify.

The Jeddah meeting underscores Saudi Arabia’s central role in regional diplomacy and reflects a broader push by key international players to de-escalate tensions and restore stability in a region facing mounting geopolitical challenges.
