Tensions flared in Tsaragi community, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, as angry constituents reportedly chased a federal lawmaker, Ahmed Saba, out of the area during a visit, citing dissatisfaction with his performance in office.

According to reports, the situation escalated when residents confronted the lawmaker, accusing him of failing to deliver meaningful development and neglecting the needs of the constituency. Witnesses said the crowd grew increasingly hostile, shouting and expressing frustration over what they described as poor representation.

Eyewitness accounts indicated that the confrontation quickly turned chaotic, with groups of youths chanting slogans of rejection as the atmosphere intensified. The lawmaker was reportedly jostled amid the crowd, while supporters and aides struggled to shield him from the surging protesters.

Sources within the community stated that the lawmaker was eventually forced to abandon his engagement and was hurriedly escorted away from the scene to avoid further escalation. The incident, residents say, reflects growing anger among constituents who feel their expectations have not been met.

Some locals described the confrontation as a culmination of long-standing grievances, alleging that there has been little visible impact from the lawmaker’s tenure. One resident reportedly said the reaction from the crowd was driven by frustration over a lack of development and engagement with the community.

The incident is not said to be an isolated case, with reports suggesting that similar reactions have occurred in the past during the lawmaker’s visits to parts of the constituency. Community members claim that repeated concerns raised over time have not been adequately addressed.

Political observers note that such public confrontations between elected officials and constituents highlight increasing demand for accountability and grassroots representation in Nigeria’s democratic process. They also warn that rising public anger, if not addressed through dialogue and responsive governance, could deepen distrust between citizens and political leaders.

As of the time of this report, there has been no detailed official response from the lawmaker regarding the incident. However, the development underscores mounting pressure on public office holders to demonstrate tangible results and maintain closer engagement with the communities they represent.

The unfolding situation in Tsaragi reflects broader concerns across parts of Nigeria, where citizens continue to demand improved governance, transparency, and delivery of basic development projects.
