The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has clarified why some candidates who sat for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are yet to see their results, addressing growing concerns among students and parents nationwide.
According to the examination body, the issue is not due to a system failure or technical glitch, but rather связано with the eligibility status of certain candidates. JAMB explained that candidates who fall into specific categories—particularly those considered underage—may receive a “No Result Yet” message when attempting to check their scores.
The Board emphasized that results for underage candidates have not been released at this stage. Under current regulations, candidates are expected to be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, to qualify for the examination. While exceptions may exist for academically exceptional candidates, their results are subject to additional screening and are not immediately available.
JAMB further noted that the release of UTME results is being conducted in phases. This means that not all candidates will receive their results at the same time, as marking and verification processes are ongoing.
The 2026 UTME, which has seen participation from over two million candidates across Nigeria and a few international centers, is one of the largest examination exercises in the country. Authorities say the phased release system is designed to ensure accuracy, prevent errors, and maintain the integrity of the results.
In addition, JAMB has restricted certain features temporarily, including the ability to print official result slips. At this stage, candidates can only check their scores via SMS using the phone number registered during the examination process.
The Board has urged candidates to remain patient and avoid panic, assuring that all valid results will be released in due course. It also warned against misinformation and advised candidates to rely only on official communication channels for updates.
As the examination process continues, JAMB says it remains committed to transparency and fairness, ensuring that all candidates are properly assessed and that results are released accurately.
