Several explosions were reported in downtown Dubai after suspected Iranian drone strikes targeted parts of the United Arab Emirates amid the escalating conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

According to reports, loud blasts were heard across the city, including areas close to the Burj Khalifa district, as authorities responded to what officials described as a “minor drone incident” in the Al Bada’a area of Dubai.

Government officials confirmed that emergency services were deployed immediately after the incident, and no injuries were reported following the explosion. Small clouds of smoke were seen rising above a residential neighbourhood before quickly dissipating.

The explosion occurred during a wider wave of Iranian drone and missile attacks across several Gulf states following earlier U.S. and Israeli military strikes on Iran, which began on February 28, 2026.

Authorities in the UAE said air-defence systems had been activated multiple times in recent days to intercept incoming drones and missiles aimed at the country’s major cities and infrastructure.

Earlier on the same day, a container ship off the coast of Dubai was struck by a projectile, causing a small fire before it was brought under control. The vessel’s crew members were reported safe.

The conflict has already spread across several countries in the Middle East. Drone attacks have also been reported in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, while regional air-defence systems continue to intercept incoming projectiles targeting major cities and strategic facilities.

Security analysts warn that the widening attacks across Gulf states show how the war between Iran and the U.S.–Israel alliance is increasingly affecting civilian areas, shipping routes, and international economic hubs in the region.

Dubai, one of the world’s busiest financial and tourism centres, has been placed on heightened security alert as authorities monitor potential threats and strengthen defensive measures.

Despite the explosion, officials said the situation in Dubai remained under control, while investigations continued into the origin and trajectory of the drone involved in the incident.

The latest developments highlight the growing risk that the conflict could expand further across the Middle East if hostilities continue to escalate.
