Abuja — Activist Omoyele Sowore condemned the recent court ruling against Nnamdi Kanu, arguing that the verdict was a result of political maneuvering rather than an impartial legal process. According to him, the outcome was “pre-written in advance” by the Tinubu regime in collusion with the judiciary, a claim he has voiced repeatedly in recent weeks.
In a post shared earlier this month, Sowore alleged that a “high-level conspiracy” has long dictated Kanu’s fate — either a life sentence or death penalty — and that court proceedings were structured merely to give the appearance of due process. He suggested that Justice Omotosho’s interpretation of Kanu’s refusal to open his defence as an admission of guilt was part of that planned outcome.
Sowore, who was present in court as the judgment was delivered, reiterated his belief that the trial lacks legitimacy. He framed the case as a test of Nigeria’s conscience, warning that the nation is being forced to choose between justice and political suppression.
His comments echo those of Kanu’s lead lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, who previously called for a political resolution, saying the case had become too complex for the judiciary alone to resolve.
