Maiduguri – In a chilling escalation of insurgent activity, suspected Boko Haram Islamic militants jihad abducted More than seven individuals in Shikarkir village, Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, including two daughters of a local pastor, a woman, and her infant.

Sources and community residents say the attack occurred around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, when insurgents invaded Shikarkir. Although approximately 15 people were initially taken, eight managed to escape, reportedly because the assailants were lightly armed and few in number.

John Yusuf, a resident, told Dalena Reporters that “the insurgents did not shoot at anybody, nor destroy any property in Shikarkir during the invasion.

A Chibok community leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, expressed deep sorrow: “My heart goes out to the families of the seven abducted, including the pastor’s two daughters, a woman with her child, and the wife of Mr. Smith Shikarkir with her baby. He called for renewed action from government and security forces, adding, “It’s heartbreaking that this is happening weekly in Chibok … we must demand action from our leaders and support our troops to bring an end to this senseless violence.

The incident adds to long‑standing concerns in Chibok, a community already traumatised by past large-scale abductions and Boko Haram violence. The recurrence of such attacks underscores persistent security vulnerabilities in the area.
