New Delhi / Hyderabad — November 2025
Indian authorities have deported a Nigerian national, Onyeukwu Victor, for overstaying his visa and alleged involvement in drug peddling, according to Punch.
According to the report, Victor entered India on a student visa in 2021, registered in Bengaluru, but later made his way to Hyderabad. His visa subsequently expired in 2024, after which he reportedly became involved in a drug distribution network, supplying narcotics in both Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
Authorities from the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H‑NEW) arrested him. During interrogation, Victor was unable to produce valid travel or residency documents, confirming that he had been living in India illegally. Following the arrest, the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) coordinated with the H‑NEW to secure his deportation.
This case is part of a broader crackdown by Indian law enforcement: in recent months, the H‑NEW has deported 23 foreign nationals, including 15 Nigerians, for similar offenses involving visa violations and narcotics.
