Kwara — Terrorists have launched a violent attack on the Eruku–Egbe road in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, causing widespread panic among residents and travellers who reportedly fled into the bush to escape gunfire, Dalena Reporters has confirmed.
Eyewitnesses say the assailants targeted vehicles on the busy highway, forcing a standstill as buses and trucks came under fire. In a distressing video obtained by the news outlet, passengers are seen abandoning their vehicles and running into nearby vegetation for cover.
This incident is part of a growing pattern of insecurity along the Eruku–Egbe route, which has become a recurrent zone for attacks and kidnappings. The Inspector-General of Police in Kwara, Adekimi Ojo, confirmed that kidnappers had previously fired at a vehicle on the same road in an attempt to force it to stop.
Local leaders and residents are calling on both state and federal security agencies to intensify patrols and deploy adequate force to secure the corridor and protect civilians against further terrorist incursions.
