Kwara — Terrorists have launched a brutal assault on a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in a community in Kwara State, killing three people and abducting the pastor along with several other worshippers, Dalena Reporters has learned. The raid marks a disturbing intensification of violence in the region, reflecting the growing boldness of armed groups targeting religious communities.
According to local sources, the attackers struck during a church service, opening fire and dragging victims away into the nearby bush. Eyewitnesses say the gunmen moved with calculated precision, indicating they knew how to avoid security forces and maximize terror. Survivors report that the pastor was forcibly taken, and efforts to secure his release are ongoing, though details remain murky.
The identities of the victims have not yet been confirmed, and the number of the missing is still unclear. In the wake of the attack, residents are demanding urgent action from both the Kwara State Government and federal security agencies to rescue the hostages and prevent further bloodshed.
This incident compounds a troubling trend in Kwara, where terror groups have increasingly targeted rural, religious, and vulnerable communities. Last month, terrorists reportedly killed a pastor from the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Kwara, despite the payment of a ₦5 million ransom. And in September, at least 10 vigilantes were killed in another coordinated attack.
The CAC church attack has reignited urgent calls for more robust security measures, including intelligence-sharing, better community protection, and proactive deployment of military forces. As residents reel from grief, many are warning that without decisive intervention, more such tragedies could follow.
