YAGBA EAST, Kogi State — A group of armed terrorists on Saturday afternoon launched a deadly raid along the Isanlu Makutu–Idofin highway in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, sparking panic among travellers and residents, and leaving several people feared abducted.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers struck without warning, firing sporadic gunshots and forcing motorists and bystanders to flee for safety. Some vehicles reportedly swerved off the road or were abandoned altogether as occupants ran for cover.
As of the time of reporting, the exact number of those abducted remains unclear — local sources said information is “sketchy” given the speed and chaos of the attack.
The raid has sparked widespread alarm across nearby towns; many residents said they are now staying indoors, while travellers are avoiding the corridor of the Isanlu Makutu–Idofin stretch for fear of further ambushes.
Security agencies have reportedly been alerted and are mobilising to the scene. Authorities are under mounting pressure to secure the area, rescue any abducted victims, and prevent a repeat of such attacks — even as locals demand more permanent protection and patrols along vulnerable highways.
Dalena Reporters will continue to follow developments — including any official casualty and abduction numbers, rescue efforts by security forces, and reactions from state and federal authorities.
