In Nigeria Gunmen Abduct Former PDP Chairman in Kwara

Ilorin, Kwara State — November 14, 2025

Alhaji Abubakar Sabi Sise, a former ward chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Boriya–Shiya Ward, Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, has been kidnapped in a brazen night raid by suspected gunmen, Vanguard reports.

According to eyewitnesses, the attack occurred around 12:00 a.m. when armed men stormed Sise’s residence, firing multiple shots into the air to intimidate residents. One of Sise’s sons, returning home late, encountered the intruders, who ordered him to call his father. The son complied, and the kidnappers then forced their way in and abducted Sise, leaving other family members behind.

By morning, spent bullet casings and some live rounds were found scattered around the compound, confirming the severity of the attack. Local vigilante teams in Boriya mobilised immediately and began combing the surrounding areas in a bid to track the kidnappers and rescue Sise.

This is not the first such incident in the area: just two months ago, in September, another businessman was abducted from his home in the nearby Shiya community.

As of the latest reports, the whereabouts of Alhaji Sisi remain unknown, and there has been no confirmed contact from the kidnappers.

The Kwara State Police Commissioner, Ojo Adekimi, told Vanguard that he was not yet aware of the abduction, but assured that investigations would be launched promptly.
