Fresh Wave of Terrorists Kidnappings Rocks Kwara State, Nigeria — Terrorists Strike Agbeku, Memudu, Obate All christian Communities

KWARA STATE — A fresh wave of brutal raids and kidnappings and killing has again thrown several christian communities in Kwara State into fear and uncertainty, as gunmen suspected to be terrorists attacked Agbeku, Memudu and Obate villages in separate coordinated operations.

Sources told Dalena Reporters that in Agbeku (Ifelodun LGA), armed attackers stormed the community and abducted multiple residents while killing at least More than five persons. Meanwhile, Memudu village (Irepodun LGA) was hit shortly after, where three persons were reportedly kidnapped. In Obate village, Asa LGA, a woman identified as Mrs. Rasheedat Suleiman was abducted around 8:00 p.m. by about 20 gunmen — her husband confirmed receiving a ransom demand of ₦20 million from the kidnappers.

The sudden spate of abductions comes barely days after the reported kidnapping of a traditional ruler in the state’s Ifelodun area — a sign, according to residents, that terrorists are intensifying their campaign across both rural and semi-urban communities.

Local people say that the attacks have thrown the communities into panic; many villagers are hiding or fleeing their homes, and public activity has slowed to a near standstill as fear grips the affected areas.

Security agencies have reportedly been alerted, though residents complain that previous warnings — including the order by the federal government for round-the-clock aerial surveillance over forests in Kwara — have done little to prevent the continuing onslaught.

With no group yet claiming responsibility, and with multiple victims still missing, communities are calling on state and federal authorities to urgently intensify rescue operations, tighten security, and restore safety to terrified residents.

Dalena Reporters will continue to monitor developments, including official response, rescue updates, and broader impacts on the state’s social and economic stability.
