Four Nigeria Defence Ministry Directors Freed by Jihadist Terrorists After Weeks in Captivity; Two Others Feared Dead

Abuja — Four female directors of Nigeria’s Ministry of Defence have regained their freedom after being held by terrorists for nearly two weeks, Dalena Reporters reports. The women are said to have trekked through forest from their abductors’ den in Kogi State all the way to Kaduna, where they were reportedly found.

The six officials, all senior civil servants, were kidnapped on November 10, 2025, while en route to a promotion course and examination. Their names, as identified by sources, include: Mrs. Ngozi Ibeziakor, Mrs. C.A. Emeribe, Mrs. Helen Ezeakor, Mrs. C.A. Ladoye, Mrs. J.A. Onwuzurike, and Mrs. Catherine O. Essien.

According to the report, two of the women — Mrs. Emeribe and Mrs. Onwuzurike — are feared to have died during captivity, allegedly succumbing to exhaustion and harsh conditions.  The remaining four are now undergoing medical examinations.

Sources say the abductees endured “limited food, water, and rest” during their ordeal. The Defence Headquarters spokesperson, Brigadier-General Samaila, has not responded to calls seeking comment on the incident.
