Toronto police are searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run collision that left a woman seriously injured in south Etobicoke on Saturday evening.
Investigators said the incident occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. in the area of Kipling Avenue and Horner Avenue. According to police, the woman was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene before emergency crews arrived.
Paramedics transported the victim to a trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities have not yet released the woman’s identity or age.
Police confirmed that no immediate description of the suspect vehicle was available Saturday night as officers continued canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance footage.
Eyewitnesses told CityNews the incident may have occurred in the parking lot of a nearby plaza and appeared to have been intentional, though investigators said those claims have not been officially confirmed.
Traffic officers and forensic investigators were seen examining the scene while police urged anyone with dashcam footage or information about the collision to contact investigators.
The latest hit-and-run investigation adds to ongoing concerns surrounding pedestrian safety across Toronto, where police have continued to respond to multiple serious collisions involving pedestrians and vulnerable road users in recent months.
