A Nigerian national, identified as 49-year-old Etinosa Osahon, has been arrested by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Los Angeles over allegations linked to mail theft, bank fraud, and aggravated identity theft.

According to officials from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Osahon was taken into custody on May 21, 2026, and is currently being held pending removal proceedings in the United States. Authorities alleged that the suspect has a criminal history involving stolen mail possession, financial fraud, and identity-related crimes.

In a statement shared by ICE Los Angeles, the agency said Osahon’s record includes “stealing and being in possession of stolen mail, bank fraud, and aggravated identity theft.” Officials added that he remains in immigration custody as deportation procedures move forward.

The arrest comes amid intensified immigration enforcement efforts by U.S. authorities targeting foreign nationals accused of criminal offences. Reports indicate that the administration of former U.S. President Donald Trump has continued to support stricter immigration enforcement policies affecting several countries, including Nigeria.

The case has generated reactions across social media platforms, where discussions have centered on immigration enforcement, identity fraud, and the increasing scrutiny facing undocumented migrants with criminal records in the United States.
