After years of public insults, interviews, social media jabs and accusations, comedians Kevin Hart and Katt Williams appear to have finally buried the hatchet during Netflix’s live “The Roast of Kevin Hart.”
The surprise reconciliation became one of the biggest entertainment moments of the week after Williams unexpectedly appeared during the televised roast event at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. The appearance stunned both the audience and Hart himself, given the long-running and highly publicized feud between the two comedians.
Williams used his roast set to continue taking sharp comedic shots at Hart, joking about Hart’s acting career, celebrity status and accusations that Hart had benefited from Hollywood industry connections. During the performance, Williams revisited previous claims that Hart had “stolen” opportunities from him and sarcastically referred to Hart as a “Hollywood puppet,” comments that echoed criticism he made during his viral 2024 appearances and interviews.
Despite the aggressive jokes, the mood shifted dramatically near the end of Williams’ set.
Hart responded emotionally onstage, telling Williams that despite their years of tension, he respected him as a comedian and wanted to move forward peacefully. Hart publicly offered what he called an “olive branch of peace,” asking Williams if the two could finally leave the feud behind. Williams accepted the gesture, and the two comedians shook hands and embraced in front of the live audience.
The feud between Hart and Williams dates back nearly a decade. Tensions escalated publicly in 2018 when Williams criticized Hart’s rapid rise in Hollywood and questioned whether Hart and other comedians had earned their success. The rivalry intensified again in 2024 after Williams appeared on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast, where he accused Hart of taking movie roles that Williams claimed were originally intended for him.
The roast itself became one of Netflix’s most talked-about comedy events of 2026. Hosted by comedian Shane Gillis, the special featured appearances from celebrities and comedians including Regina Hall, Pete Davidson, Chelsea Handler, Sheryl Underwood and Dwayne Johnson.
Although the reconciliation appeared genuine, Hart later added some comedic ambiguity during his own roast segment by joking that his emotional peace offering may have been “some of the best acting” of his career. The comment immediately sparked debate online about whether the feud was truly over or simply paused for entertainment purposes.
Social media reactions were divided following the roast. Many fans celebrated seeing two of comedy’s biggest personalities finally make peace, while others remained skeptical and questioned whether the reconciliation would last beyond the Netflix event itself.
Still, the moment represented a rare public truce in modern comedy culture, especially between two performers whose rivalry had become one of stand-up comedy’s most discussed celebrity feuds. Hart later praised Williams publicly on social media, describing his roast performance as “insane” and applauding his comedic talent.
