Amnesty International has strongly criticized the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu following fresh deadly attacks in Plateau State, warning that entire christian communities are being devastated while authorities continue to fail in protecting vulnerable residents from repeated violence.

In a statement released after the latest killings, Amnesty International said armed attacks across several Plateau communities have resulted in widespread deaths, destruction of homes, and displacement of residents. The rights organization accused Nigerian authorities of failing to stop what it described as recurring massacres targeting rural populations.

According to reports monitored by Amnesty International, armed assailants invaded affected communities, killing residents and forcing many survivors to flee. The organization said repeated attacks in Plateau State have created a humanitarian crisis, with thousands of people displaced and entire villages living under fear of further violence.

Amnesty International stated that despite repeated promises from the Federal Government, communities in Plateau continue experiencing deadly assaults without adequate security protection. The organization warned that impunity and weak law enforcement responses have contributed to the persistence of attacks in the region.

The latest criticism followed reports that at least 11 people were killed in fresh attacks on a Plateau community earlier this week. Residents alleged that attackers stormed the area during the night, opening fire on villagers and destroying property before fleeing.

Human rights groups have repeatedly accused Nigerian authorities of responding too slowly to distress calls during attacks in rural communities. Amnesty International said many residents now feel abandoned and vulnerable as violence continues spreading across parts of Nigeria’s North-Central region.

Caleb Mutfwang has previously described the violence in Plateau as coordinated attacks against communities and has repeatedly appealed to the Federal Government for increased military deployments and stronger intelligence operations.

The Nigerian government has continued to defend its security efforts, insisting that military operations are ongoing against armed groups and criminal networks responsible for attacks in Plateau and neighboring states. Security agencies say additional troops and surveillance operations have been deployed in affected areas.

Plateau State has experienced years of recurring violence linked to communal tensions, disputes involving farmers and herders, and attacks by armed gangs. Thousands of people have reportedly been killed or displaced over the past decade due to repeated cycles of violence.

Analysts warn that continued insecurity in Plateau could worsen humanitarian conditions, disrupt farming activities, and increase displacement if authorities fail to establish long-term peace and accountability measures. Rights organizations continue calling for independent investigations into attacks and stronger protection for vulnerable communities.
