LOS ANGELES — United States immigration authorities have arrested a 53-year-old Nigerian national over allegations of child molestation, sexual battery, and related offences, officials have confirmed.
The suspect, identified as Olatunde Abiodun Olusanjo, was taken into custody on April 21 by officers of Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), a division of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, in Los Angeles.
According to immigration officials, the arrest was carried out following records indicating that the individual had prior encounters with law enforcement linked to similar offences. Authorities stated that the suspect has previous arrests involving child molestation, sexual battery, and soliciting lewd conduct.
In a statement, ICE confirmed that the Nigerian national remains in custody while deportation proceedings are underway. Officials noted that he is currently being held pending removal from the United States as part of immigration enforcement actions targeting individuals with criminal records.
The agency did not provide further details regarding the timeline for deportation but emphasized that such operations are part of broader efforts to enforce immigration laws and protect public safety.
Immigration enforcement in the United States has intensified in recent years, with authorities prioritizing the arrest and removal of non-citizens accused or convicted of serious crimes. The case underscores ongoing concerns about criminal activity involving undocumented or non-citizen residents and the role of federal agencies in addressing such issues.
Officials have not released additional personal details about the suspect, and investigations related to the case remain ongoing.
