WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. President Donald Trump has dismissed Iran’s revised proposal aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict, describing it as insufficient while pointing to internal divisions within Iran’s leadership as a major obstacle to progress.

Speaking ahead of his departure from Florida, Trump said the updated proposal from Tehran showed some improvement but still fell short of U.S. expectations. He emphasized that the lack of clarity within Iran’s leadership structure has complicated diplomatic efforts, stating that there is “tremendous infighting and confusion” among officials.

The U.S. president also confirmed that he had ordered the cancellation of a planned diplomatic mission to Islamabad involving key envoys, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The trip had been intended to facilitate discussions with Iranian representatives as part of ongoing efforts to ease tensions.

In a message posted on his social media platform, Trump suggested that uncertainty within Iran’s leadership is hindering negotiations, remarking that even Iranian officials themselves appear unclear about who holds decision-making authority. He added that if Tehran is serious about talks, it should take direct steps to engage.

On the other side, Iran has maintained a firm stance, with its leadership rejecting negotiations conducted under pressure. Iranian officials have reiterated that they will not participate in what they describe as “imposed negotiations” influenced by threats or blockades, further widening the gap between both sides.

The latest development comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, where diplomatic efforts have struggled to keep pace with escalating military and political confrontations. Analysts warn that the collapse of dialogue could prolong instability in the region and reduce chances of a negotiated resolution in the near term.

As the situation continues to evolve, the rejection of Iran’s revised proposal signals a potential setback for peace efforts, with both sides appearing entrenched in their positions and prospects for immediate negotiations remaining uncertain.
