The head of the intelligence organization of Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Majid Khademi, has been killed in a strike, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

According to Iranian state media, Khademi was killed on Monday in what was described as a “terrorist attack by the American-Zionist enemy,” signaling direct accusations against both the United States and Israel for the strike.

Khademi, who assumed the role in 2025, is the latest high-ranking Iranian official to be killed in the escalating wave of targeted strikes. He had taken over the position after his predecessor was also killed in earlier Israeli attacks, highlighting a pattern of repeated targeting of senior figures within Iran’s security structure.

Before his appointment, Khademi held key roles within Iran’s intelligence and defense architecture, including leading the IRGC’s Intelligence Protection Organization, where he was responsible for counter-espionage and internal security operations. His career spanned decades within Iran’s intelligence community, making him one of the most experienced figures in the country’s security apparatus.

The IRGC intelligence arm is considered one of the most powerful security institutions in Iran, playing a central role in domestic surveillance and efforts to counter foreign influence. It operates alongside the country’s civilian intelligence agencies but often carries out parallel and highly sensitive operations.

Khademi’s killing comes amid a broader and rapidly intensifying conflict in the Middle East, with ongoing airstrikes, missile attacks, and escalating military exchanges between Iran and its adversaries. Analysts warn that the continued targeting of high-ranking officials could further inflame tensions and reduce the chances of immediate de-escalation.

The development adds to growing fears of a wider regional conflict, as both sides continue to exchange strikes across multiple fronts. The killing of such a senior intelligence figure is expected to have significant implications for Iran’s security operations and could trigger retaliatory actions.

As the situation unfolds, the international community is closely monitoring developments, with increasing concern that the conflict could spiral into a broader war affecting global security and economic stability.
