A new victim has come forward with allegations of assault, harassment, and extortion against Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Usman Nuhu, intensifying scrutiny over his conduct following a recent extrajudicial killing incident in Delta State.

The development comes amid public outrage over the reported killing of a suspect in Effurun, Delta State, an incident that has already triggered widespread condemnation and calls for accountability.

According to Sahara Reporters, the latest accuser, identified as Ozima Paris Ekeh, detailed a disturbing encounter with the officer and his team dating back to 2023. She alleged that she was stopped while riding on a commercial motorcycle and was immediately subjected to aggression by the officers.

Ekeh claimed that ASP Nuhu physically assaulted her without provocation, allegedly striking her with a firearm and forcing her into a police vehicle. She further accused the officer of making inappropriate comments and engaging in degrading behavior during the incident.

The situation reportedly escalated inside the vehicle, where she said she was threatened and intimidated. According to her account, the officers demanded ₦50,000, warning of severe consequences if she failed to comply. She stated that she was escorted to a point-of-sale location, where she withdrew and handed over the money under duress.

The allegations add to growing concerns about a pattern of misconduct linked to the officer, including claims of excessive force, extortion, and gender-based abuse. The case has further fueled public debate about police brutality and accountability within the Nigeria Police Force.

The controversy surrounding ASP Nuhu intensified after a viral video allegedly showed a handcuffed suspect being shot in Delta State—an act widely condemned by human rights groups as a violation of due process and the right to life.

Authorities have since confirmed that the officer has been arrested and transferred for disciplinary proceedings, with assurances that justice will be pursued. However, rights groups and civil society organizations insist that a thorough investigation and prosecution are necessary to address what they describe as systemic issues within law enforcement.

The latest allegations underscore ongoing concerns over police conduct in Nigeria, with many observers warning that failure to ensure accountability could further erode public trust in security institutions.
