AKURE, Ondo State, Nigeria — The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on Monday evening announced a planned power disruption affecting Ondo State and neighboring communities following a collapse in the national grid, state power officials confirmed. The outage, which commenced late in the afternoon, is expected to last several hours as engineers work to stabilise the transmission network.
In a statement issued by TCN’s Akure control and dispatch centre, the disruption described as necessary for “grid correction and restoration works” was triggered after irregular voltage fluctuations were detected along key transmission lines serving the Southwest region. The agency said the action was intended to protect critical infrastructure and prevent further damage to transformers and other grid components.
