Popular Nigerian TikTok influencer and livestreamer Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, has been hospitalised after a dramatic car crash that occurred during an emotional live broadcast on social media, reports said on Sunday.

The incident unfolded along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos while Peller was conducting an Instagram Live session, during which he appeared visibly distressed and agitated, according to eyewitness accounts and video clips circulating online.

Footage from the livestream shows Peller crying and making troubling remarks about personal struggles, including fears of public mockery should a relationship end. At one point, he appeared to express thoughts of self-harm, although he emphasised he would not put others at risk.

Shortly after those emotional moments, the influencer reportedly lost control of his newly acquired Mercedes-Benz SUV, resulting in a crash that forced bystanders to intervene. Local sources and social media posts suggest that onlookers pulled Peller from the wreckage before emergency responders arrived at the scene.

Following the crash, Peller was transported to a nearby hospital. His current medical condition has not been publicly disclosed, but those close to him confirmed he was receiving treatment and observation.

The dramatic incident has captured wide attention on Nigerian social media platforms, prompting discussions about mental health, emotional wellbeing, and the pressures faced by social media personalities in an era of constant livestreamed scrutiny. While authorities have not issued an official statement regarding charges or specific causes of the crash, speculation continues about the interplay of emotional distress and driving safety.

Peller rose to fame through engaging short-form content and interactive livestreams, building a significant online following. His personal life, including high-profile relationships, has often attracted public interest  factors that commentators say may contribute to the high-stakes emotional exposure experienced by content creators today.

As Peller remains under medical care, fans and followers have posted supportive messages online, expressing concern for his recovery and urging attention to mental health challenges affecting young influencers nationwide.
