Ejiba, Kogi State — December 2, 2025 | Dalena Reporters

Armed terrorist who stormed a worship service at a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State have reportedly demanded a staggering ransom of ₦500 million for the release of the pastor, his wife, and several worshippers abducted during the violent raid.

The assault occurred in the early hours of Sunday, November 30, 2025, when gunmen stormed the small church during service, abducting the pastor known locally as “Orlando” his wife and an unconfirmed number of congregants, witnesses told local media.

Following the attack, the state government responded swiftly: a helicopter and an anti-kidnapping unit were deployed to comb the surrounding forests and search for the abductors, while a manhunt was launched to secure the release of the hostages.

Despite the deployment, sources close to the family indicated that the kidnappers contacted them and demanded ₦500 million for safe release a sum that would place an overwhelming burden on the pastor’s relatives and the local community.

The news has reverberated across Kogi and beyond, compounding fears about the growing brazenness and impunity of armed bandit groups in the region. Security analysts warn that the demand, if not met with effective security measures and robust rescue operations, risks encouraging more such attacks on vulnerable religious communities.

As of press time, authorities had not confirmed whether any negotiations or ransom payments are underway. The state government reiterated that all efforts remain on securing the safe return of the abducted worshippers dead or alive and appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
