OGUN / KOGI — A school employee from Ogun State has been abducted along a major highway and his captors are demanding a ₦100 million ransom for his release, according to a distressing video obtained by Sahara Reporters. The victim, identified as Magaji (Mogaji) Adebanjo, an employee of Vine Crest College, was seized by gunmen while travelling along the Kabba Road a corridor notorious for violent abductions and bandit activity.
In the video, Adebanjo, visibly terrified and tied up, pleads for urgent help, explaining that he was kidnapped while travelling from Iperu, Ogun State, to Abuja. He says the armed men bundled him into captivity and are now demanding a ransom of ₦100 million before they will consider releasing him.
Addressing Nigerians through the grainy footage, Adebanjo sobs and recounts his plight, telling viewers that he has a pregnant wife, a four-year-old son, and an elderly father who depend on him. “Please help me… I don’t want to die,” he begs, his voice shaking with fear.
Another abductee appearing in the same clip sits beside him, wounded with an injured knee and in distress, suggesting that more than one person was taken during the attack.
The incident underscores a growing wave of kidnappings along Nigeria’s highways, particularly around the Kabba-Lokoja and Kabba circuits, where armed criminals have increasingly targeted commuters for ransom — often demanding extremely high sums that ordinary families cannot afford. Recent high-profile cases include demands of hundreds of millions of naira for the release of other victims, amplifying public anxiety about road safety and the reach of criminal gangs.
So far, neither security authorities nor the Ogun State Police Command have issued an official statement on the kidnapping or detailed any ongoing rescue efforts. Families and concerned citizens are now urging immediate action as the countdown on the captors’ deadline continues.
