As of Wednesday morning, the official exchange rate at the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) stood at ₦1,448.43 per US dollar, according to data published by market-tracking services.
In the parallel (black-market) foreign-exchange market, the naira was trading between ₦1,455 and ₦1,460 per dollar, representing a narrow spread of roughly ₦10–₦15 between the official and parallel rates — a situation observers describe as a sign of relative stability in recent weeks.
This stability — anchored by improved liquidity injections and currency reforms by the central bank — has offered some respite to businesses and import-dependent consumers, following months of volatility and speculative pressure on the naira.
