Marital Crisis: More Drama as Regina Daniels Raises Alarm over Her Younger Brother’s Arrest, Remand in Prison

Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has sounded the alarm over the imprisonment of her younger brother, alleging that he has been unlawfully remanded in custody as part of a broader coercive strategy involving her family. According to posts on her Instagram story, Daniels claims her brother was detained amid her ongoing marital conflict with her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.

On Wednesday, her elder brother Samuel Ojegwu, known online as “Sammy West,” was reportedly remanded by a magistrate in Dutse and taken to Keffi Prison in Nasarawa State after being arrested in Lagos earlier in the week. His brother Sweezy posted a video criticizing the judicial process, stating:

“He is currently at Keffi Prison! … The judge says remand him till they can file for his bail… bail has been filed [yet] the magistrate has disappeared.

Family sources contend Sammy was arrested on Monday in Lagos, then transported via private jet to Abuja, where he was arraigned before a Dutse magistrate. The family alleges he was not given access to his lawyer and was never allowed to contact his family after his arrest. They contend the prosecution succeeded in securing the remand order despite these alleged procedural irregularities.

In her Instagram story, Regina Daniels linked the arrest of her siblings to her own pressure to return to Nigeria from abroad, and her coerced participation in a rehabilitation programme. She stated:

“Someone please help me! I feel like I’m losing my mind. My big brother and big sister have been arrested… my baby sister might be arrested soon until I return … according to him, return to rehab.

Senator Nwoko had earlier accused Daniels of drug and alcohol abuse, stating she would undergo rehabilitation either in Jordan or Abuja, and his legal team alleged she assaulted staff and destroyed property in his residence. These revelations marked the latest twist in their publicly-visible marital crisis, which has drawn significant social-media attention and scrutiny.

Legal observers note that Sammy’s remand comes less than a week after Daniels’ public outcry, raising concern about timing and motivations. Family attorneys say they will apply for bail and may challenge the jurisdiction of the magistrate if required documents and processes were not followed.

As of this writing, the police and Department of State Services have not issued an official statement on Sammy’s arrest or the alleged private-jet transport claim. Celeste Ojo, the spokesperson for the FCT Command, declined to confirm or deny the transfer.

The case has reignited questions about due-process rights, influence of high-profile figures in legal proceedings, and the role of media in ensuring transparency. With the remand set for an unspecified duration, the family anticipates their next court appearance mid-November, and advocates are pressing for rapid legal clarity.
