Nigerian singer Waje, whose real name is Aituaje Iruobe, has opened up about her relationship standards, stating why she cannot date a man in his middle 20s and why she would not consider marrying a man who is not already successful.
On a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the 45-year-old singer explained that she would have issues with a man in his mid-20s because of her pragmatic nature and her expectations of a partner being able to lead and inspire. She said:
“We will have issues. I’m very pragmatic. Sometimes, I have to hold myself with my siblings, my friends, and my family members. Imagine if it was a husband? He would get tired. I will be treating him like my child. He would hate me.
Waje also said she cannot marry someone who is not successful, explaining that at her age she is no longer in her 20s and doesn’t have the time or the patience to “build” with someone. She stated:
“I can’t marry someone who is not successful, and here’s why: first of all, I’m not in my 20s so we are not growing together. A man leads, he leads by selling aspirations to me. I have to aspire to see him lead. And if he can’t inspire me to grow, we can’t be partners.
