EJIBA, Kogi State — In a horrifying assault on a church service in Ejiba christian community, armed Islamic Jihadist terrorist stormed the premises and abducted a pastor, his wife, and several worshippers, heightening fears of escalating violence in the region.
Eyewitnesses recounted that the assailants, riding on motorcycles, launched the attack just as the congregation gathered for prayers. The gunmen reportedly opened fire to create panic before forcing multiple worshippers including the pastor and his wife into the bush and speeding off.
Local sources say at least eight people are missing following the raid. The pastor’s wife is believed to be among the captives, and some victims are feared injured.
Call-outs to emergency contacts and local vigilante groups have begun, but as of now no ransom demand has been confirmed. Security operatives have been alerted, and residents are on edge, afraid of further attacks while fleeing homes and abandoning farms.
Community leaders and civil-society voices have condemned the attack, calling for urgent intervention by state and federal security agencies to rescue the abducted church members and restore safety.
Dalena Reporters will continue to follow developments closely — including search and rescue operations, official statements from security authorities, and any demand from the bandits.
