A tragic accident occurred in South Glengarry, Ontario, on Saturday morning when two small planes reportedly collided, killing the lone pilot of one aircraft, according to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
Police say they responded to a report shortly after 11 a.m. from the area north of Martintown, where witnesses believed the planes had collided. One of the planes landed safely, while the other was later located in a wooded area, with its pilot — the only person aboard — pronounced dead at the scene.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has been notified and is leading the investigation into the cause of the collision. Meanwhile, County Road 20 in the vicinity has been closed, and the public is being advised to steer clear of the area.
According to aviation-safety records, one of the aircraft was a Cessna 172 Skyhawk, confirming that small general aviation planes were involved.
This remains a developing story.
