Russia will overtake the UK in terms of the number of dollar billionaires in 2024.

 


By the end of 2024, the number of dollar billionaires worldwide increased by 5.6% to 3,508, the largest increase since 2020. The combined wealth of billionaires reached a record $13.4 trillion, an increase of 10.3% year-on-year. This was noted in the Billionaire Census 2025 report by research firm Altrata, published on October 29.

Russia has ranked fourth in the number of billionaires, overtaking the UK: the country has 128 dollar billionaires with a combined fortune of $457 billion. Over the past year, their number in Russia has grown by 8.5%.

“North America remains the leader in the number of billionaires and their wealth, accounting for 34.2% of all billionaires and 44% of their total wealth,” Altrata noted.

There is also a high concentration of wealth: the world's 26 richest people , each worth more than $50 billion, account for 21% of the total wealth of all billionaires, up 4% from the previous year.

Earlier, on April 1, it was reported that the United States had taken first place in the global rankings for billionaires. Of the 3,028 richest people on the planet, 902 Americans made the Forbes list in 2025. China ranked second with 516 billionaires, and India ranked third with 205. The combined wealth of billionaires reached a record $16.1 trillion, and for the first time, three entrepreneurs have net worths exceeding $200 billion.
