Kogi Police Mourn as DPO Enape Fidelis of Lokoja ‘A’ Division Dies Suddenly

The Kogi State Police Command has been thrown into deep mourning following the sudden death of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Enape Fidelis, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Lokoja “A” Division. His passing, confirmed by family members on Friday, October 24, 2025, came as a rude shock to colleagues, subordinates, and residents who knew him as a disciplined officer and respected community leader.

Until his death, CSP Fidelis was one of the most admired senior officers in the command, widely known for his professionalism, humility, and commitment to service. He was among seven senior officers decorated with new ranks in 2022 by the then Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, during a promotion ceremony in Lokoja attended by senior officers of Zone 8 Command and the Kogi State Commissioner of Police.

Colleagues described the late officer as a mentor, a counselor, and a pillar of strength to younger officers under his supervision. “You were more than an officer; you were a mentor and an inspiration to many of us. Your leadership was firm but compassionate,” one officer said, expressing grief over the shocking news.

The atmosphere at the Kogi Police Command headquarters in Lokoja was solemn as officers gathered in small groups to mourn their late colleague. Many described his death as a painful loss at a time the command is facing critical security and operational challenges across the state. Sources said the DPO had been active on duty until shortly before his passing, making the news even more devastating to his team.

CSP Enape Fidelis was celebrated for his dedication to duty, integrity, and approachability. He maintained strong relationships with residents of Lokoja and surrounding communities, focusing on community policing and peaceful engagement with the public. His legacy, according to fellow officers, will remain a guiding example of what it means to serve with honour and compassion.

As tributes continue to pour in from within and outside the police force, friends and family have described his death as a heavy blow, praying for God to grant him eternal rest and comfort those he left behind. The Kogi State Police Command is expected to issue an official statement and announce burial arrangements in the coming days.

CSP Enape Fidelis will be remembered as a disciplined and humane officer whose service to the Force and the people of Kogi State left an indelible mark. His death, though untimely, reinforces the sacrifices and dedication of officers who serve quietly yet impactfully across Nigeria’s security landscape.
