Gunman Attacks Dallas ICE Facility, One Dead and Two Critically Injured

Dallas, Texas | September 24, 2025 — A lone gunman opened fire on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in Dallas early Wednesday, killing one detainee and critically injuring two others before turning the weapon on himself.

According to officials, the attack began around 6:40 a.m. when the shooter fired from a rooftop near the secured entrance of the ICE facility. A detainee transport van was struck in the barrage, leaving three detainees shot. One died on the scene while the other two remain hospitalized in critical condition. No ICE personnel were reported injured.

Law enforcement later confirmed the gunman was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators discovered unused ammunition at the site, some marked with the words “ANTI-ICE,” pointing to a likely political or ideological motive.

The FBI and Department of Homeland Security have taken charge of the investigation, describing the assault as a deliberate and targeted act of violence. The suspect has been identified by multiple reports as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, though officials have not yet released an official statement on his background.

Homeland Security Secretary and ICE leaders condemned the shooting, calling it a “cowardly attack” against both federal officers and detainees in custody. Vice President JD Vance also weighed in, warning that political rhetoric against immigration enforcement must not spill into violence.

The Dallas attack has sparked debate across the U.S., with calls for tighter security at federal facilities and renewed scrutiny over the nation’s immigration policies. As the investigation continues, immigrant rights groups are demanding answers on how detainees came under fire inside a supposedly secure facility.
