Tsaragi, Kwara State | September 28, 2025 –
Hundreds of youths on Sunday stormed the palace of the Etsu Tsaragi in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, protesting rising insecurity in the community and demanding that Fulani settlers vacate their land.
The protesters accused Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of failing to protect residents in Kwara North and urged the monarch to immediately relay their grievances to the state government.
Witnesses said the demonstration followed the abduction of a local businessman, Suleiman Ndana, during a midnight raid on his residence.
According to reports, Ndana had attempted to alert security operatives when the attackers invaded his home. The gunmen allegedly fired several shots before seizing him. His pregnant wife, who was also targeted, was spared after Ndana surrendered himself to the kidnappers.
The attackers whisked him away to an unknown location, leaving the community in fear and anger.
Chanting solidarity songs, the youths vowed not to relent until authorities act to secure lives and property in Tsaragi. Their demands included the removal of Fulani settlers from the community and urgent measures to curb kidnappings and killings.
The protest was peaceful but tense, as residents expressed frustration over repeated security breaches in the area.
