A disturbing video allegedly released by suspected terrorists has renewed concerns over insecurity in Nigeria’s North-Central region after an abducted resident of Kogi State was shown pleading for his life while under captivity.

The victim, identified as AB Adebayo, popularly known as Kemuna, was reportedly kidnapped alongside his wife from their residence in Iluke-Bunu, located in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State approximately two weeks ago, according to reports.

In footage circulated online and reported by local media, the visibly distressed man appealed for the payment of ransom while being subjected to physical abuse by armed captors. The recording, which has generated concern across social media platforms, reportedly showed the victim repeatedly urging that money would be sent in exchange for his release.

Witness accounts cited in reports indicate that several armed men appeared in the video while the abducted resident remained under pressure to convince relatives to comply with ransom demands. Authorities had not publicly confirmed the circumstances surrounding the recording at the time of reporting.

The incident has intensified public concern over persistent cases of kidnapping and violent attacks in parts of Kogi State and neighbouring communities. Residents and civic groups have continued to call for stronger security responses and improved protection for vulnerable rural areas facing repeated threats from armed groups.

Security challenges linked to abductions for ransom have remained a major issue across several regions of Nigeria in recent years, with affected communities frequently urging both state and federal authorities to strengthen preventive measures and emergency response systems.

As of publication, there was no official confirmation regarding the condition or release of the abducted individuals. Families and residents continue to await developments while hoping for their safe return.
