Police in Canada have launched an intensified search for a man wanted in connection with a fatal assault in Newfoundland and Labrador, urging the public to remain alert as investigators say the suspect is actively avoiding authorities.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Major Crimes Unit announced that a Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued for 30-year-old David Faucher in relation to a first-degree murder investigation connected to an incident that occurred in Happy Valley–Goose Bay in 2023. Authorities stated that efforts to locate and apprehend the suspect remain ongoing.
According to investigators, Faucher is believed to be attempting to evade police and may have travelled outside the immediate region, prompting broader coordination among law enforcement agencies across the country. Officials have asked members of the public not to approach him directly and instead report any relevant information to police immediately.
The case has renewed public attention on unresolved violent crime investigations in Newfoundland and Labrador and has generated concern among residents following the latest police appeal. Authorities have not publicly released additional operational details connected to the investigation but indicated that updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
RCMP officials reiterated that public cooperation remains critical in helping investigators locate the accused and move the case through the justice process. Investigators continue to encourage anyone with information to contact police through official reporting channels.
The renewed search effort places national attention once again on a case that investigators describe as active and unresolved, as authorities continue working to bring the suspect before the courts.
