Toronto police have launched a major investigation after four masked suspects allegedly stole more than $500,000 worth of jewellery during an armed robbery in the CityPlace area early Sunday morning. Authorities say the incident occurred near Spadina Avenue and Bremner Boulevard, close to downtown Toronto’s waterfront district.

According to investigators, officers responded to reports of a robbery at approximately 4:50 a.m. on May 10 after victims reported being confronted while sitting inside a parked vehicle. Police allege that four masked men approached the victims, brandished firearms, and demanded valuables before fleeing the scene with a large quantity of jewellery.

Authorities confirmed that the suspects escaped in another vehicle shortly after the robbery. One of the victims sustained minor injuries during the incident, although police did not provide further details about how the injuries occurred.

Toronto Police Service has since released surveillance images and video footage showing the suspects allegedly running from the area following the robbery. Investigators hope the released footage will help identify those responsible.

The robbery has raised fresh concerns over violent thefts targeting luxury items across the Greater Toronto Area. In recent years, police agencies throughout Ontario have reported an increase in organized robberies involving jewellery, luxury vehicles, and high-value goods.

Law enforcement officials believe some of these crimes are connected to organized criminal groups that specifically target victims believed to possess expensive jewellery or designer items. Security experts say suspects often monitor victims before carrying out coordinated attacks in parking lots, residential buildings, and entertainment districts.

Investigators have not yet released detailed descriptions of the four suspects, but confirmed all were wearing masks during the robbery. Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the CityPlace area during the early hours of Sunday morning to come forward with information or surveillance footage.

Toronto police say the investigation remains ongoing.
