The Israeli Air Force (IAF) has announced that it carried out powerful airstrikes in Beirut, Lebanon, claiming to have destroyed key headquarters belonging to Hezbollah as the conflict in the Middle East continues to intensify.
According to Israeli military officials, the strikes targeted command centers used by Hezbollah operatives to coordinate attacks against Israel. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said the facilities were part of the militant group’s operational infrastructure and were actively being used to plan and direct military operations.
The airstrikes were conducted during a broader Israeli campaign against Hezbollah positions across Lebanon. Israeli authorities say the military has targeted more than 100 Hezbollah command centers since the current escalation began earlier this month, as Israel seeks to weaken the group’s military capabilities.
Witnesses in Beirut reported hearing large explosions and seeing smoke rising from areas believed to be Hezbollah strongholds, particularly in suburbs known to host the group’s political and military infrastructure. Rescue teams were reportedly deployed to the affected areas following the strikes.
The strikes come amid a rapidly expanding regional crisis involving Israel, Hezbollah, Iran, and the United States, which has raised fears of a broader Middle East war. Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militant group based in Lebanon, has been launching rockets and missiles toward Israel in response to ongoing hostilities tied to the wider regional conflict.
Since the latest round of fighting began in early March, Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon have caused hundreds of deaths and forced large numbers of civilians to flee their homes, according to international reports.
The Israeli military maintains that its operations are focused on military infrastructure and militant leadership, though humanitarian organizations have raised concerns about the impact of the bombardment on civilian populations.
Analysts warn that the continued escalation between Israel and Hezbollah could further destabilize Lebanon, a country already struggling with severe economic and political crises.
With missile attacks continuing on both sides of the border and regional tensions rising, diplomats are now racing to prevent the conflict from expanding into a full-scale regional war involving multiple countries across the Middle East.
