Nollywood actress Doris Ogala was reportedly arrested on Saturday, December 20, 2025, during a live-streamed interview at her Lagos home, in a dramatic escalation of a highly publicised dispute with Lagos-based cleric Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of Grace Nation Liberation City. The arrest unfolded in real time when the programme host abruptly asked, “The police are in your house?” to which Ogala confirmed, “Yes, the police are in my house.” The livestream reportedly ended shortly thereafter as law-enforcement officers entered the residence.
The incident capped a week of viral controversy between the actress and the cleric, which began after Ogala went public with allegations that Okafor had promised to marry her a relationship she says began in 2017 only to break that promise and marry another woman, identified as Pearl, earlier this month. Ogala’s legal team issued a demand letter seeking ₦1 billion in damages for what she described as a breach of promise to marry and the emotional and reputational harm she suffered.
Prior to her arrest, Ogala shared a now-deleted photo from a bedroom she claimed belonged to Pastor Okafor, showing a shirtless man wrapped in a towel. She described it as evidence of their private relationship and threatened to release a fuller video a move that drew intense public attention and online debate.
Comedian and former reality-TV personality Dee One confirmed the arrest on social media, writing that Ogala “will now have to defend her story in court.” As of this report, the Nigeria Police Force has not officially commented on the arrest or the specific charges, and neither Ogala’s representatives nor Pastor Okafor have issued formal statements regarding the development.
The controversy has sparked widespread reaction online, with some netizens expressing support for Ogala’s right to pursue legal redress, while others cautioned against public disclosure of private images and urged restraint. The unfolding case highlights the growing intersection of personal disputes, social media exposure, and legal consequences in high-profile celebrity controversies in Nigeria.
