Security operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a medical doctor believed to be providing pharmaceutical supplies including painkillers and antibiotics to terrorist gangs operating in forests across parts of Kwara State.
The suspect was intercepted in the Jebba area of Moro Local Government after intelligence reports traced a network allegedly funneling medical supplies from Sokoto State to the forest-hideouts used by criminals. According to security sources, the gangs have experienced sustained clashes with security forces and were reportedly in urgent need of medical attention for gunshot wounds.
In a statement released by the Kwara State Government, authorities described the arrest as a “significant disruption” to the logistics systems enabling kidnapping operations in the state. The government warned that health facilities and clinics in forested or remote areas — which may serve as clandestine medical hubs for criminals — would henceforth be subject to heightened surveillance.
DSS officials said the investigation is ongoing to determine whether the doctor is part of a larger network of facilitators and supply-chains supporting organised crime across the North-Central region.
