Five teenagers have been charged by the Windsor Police Service after an incident in which a group allegedly confronted a woman and her children with a machete and a BB gun, in what police describe as a shocking armed assault on a residential street in Windsor, Ontario.
According to a police news release, officers were called to a residence on the 3500 block of Wells Street shortly after 6 p.m. on December 14, 2025, after a woman outside her home with her children reported that a white Dodge Caravan pulled up and several males inside exited the vehicle armed. One suspect allegedly approached the family brandishing a machete, while another fired a BB gun multiple times in their direction.
After the suspects fled the scene, a witness followed the vehicle onto the E.C. Row Expressway — at which point the suspects are also reported to have discharged the BB gun toward the witness’ vehicle, although no injuries were reported in either case.
Police located the Dodge Caravan the following afternoon and, through investigative work by the Major Crimes Unit, identified five youths in connection with the assault. On December 18, 2025, three of the suspects voluntarily surrendered at Windsor Police headquarters, while the remaining two were arrested later that day without incident in the 300 block of Jefferson Boulevard.
All five have been charged under Ontario law with:
- Assault with a weapon
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
- Discharge of an air gun with intent to wound
In addition to those counts:
- One 14‑year‑old male also faces charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and multiple counts of failure to comply with a release order;
- A 15‑year‑old male and another 14‑year‑old male have each been charged with several counts of failure to comply with release orders;
- Another 14‑year‑old male is also charged with wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, according to police.
Under Canada’s Youth Criminal Justice Act, details such as the full names of the accused cannot be published because of their ages.
Authorities are asking anyone with further information related to the incident to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 519‑255‑6700, ext. 4830, or submit anonymous tips through Windsor & Essex County Crime Stoppers at 519‑258‑8477 (TIPS) or online at catchcrooks.com.
The arrests highlight ongoing concerns in Windsor about youth‑involved violent incidents — including cases involving weapons and dangerous driving — and the need for ongoing community intervention and policing strategies to address rising youth crime in parts of the city.
